Overview of Rite of Passage
Rite of Passage is a residential treatment center for troubled teens ages 10 to 20 who are angry, rebellious, defiant, failing in school, abusing alcohol or drugs, struggling with attachment disorder, or recovering from abuse.
Rite of Passage is located in Minden, Nevada, and all its facilities comprise 238,000 feet of program space.
Through a positive peer culture and behavioral management system, teens learn respect, tolerance, and communication/problem solving skills.
Students who have not excelled academically are able to thrive within the small class sizes. Students have the opportunity to gain vocational skills such as culinary arts, automotive technology, computer science, drafting, and welding. Students are also encouraged to participate in athletics. The school houses a state of the art recreational facility with basketball courts and exercise machines. Interscholastic basketball, soccer, track and field, and football are also encouraged.
Rite of Passage is designed to help teens learn the life skills needed to be successful. To graduate from the program, each student must demonstrate a learned competency in vocational training, athletics, life skills, his or her individualized graduation plan, demonstrated behavior changes, aftercare, treatment plans, and education.
