Neighborhood against school for troubled teens
We have an update on a proposed reform school in southwest Lafayette parish between Ridge and Indian Bayou. Neighbors in the area are saying, "Not in my backyard!"
Residents along Hoffpauir road are expressing their concerns. Acadiana Marine Institute intends to open a facility on Hoffpauir road near Golden Grain road for 36 troubled teen boys.
We talked to people in the area Monday who say they do not want the school to be built. We also spoke to a representative of AMI Monday.
The company says it has received positive feedback from some neighbors, phone calls from parents inquiring about the program and resumes from residents who would like to work at the facility.
